Trailer's Up!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSVsve7HcBY

ivan bids adieu

Well it has come to this..... it has been a long and arduous yet semi-successful run but Ivan is now done and dusted. I would like to thank myself and Michael Harris in particular but also to those that we have lost along the way and then found again like a pot of gold at the end of the leprechauns rainbow (thats why he got cut from the film). those i need to mention and am are Josh Huf for great work on the backgrounds even when he had Knight Mouse to contend with. check it out its great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK_j376ooKY
like to thank Joff Bush or as he is more commonly known as Joffrey Andersen.... only to me though. oh he did the great score which makes the film so magical and makes it actually feel like a film.
Right now Michael and I are trying to get as much stuff done for this presentation as possible which is now in 5 hours. we managed to get the film onto mastered to tape at 4.30 am Tuesday night, then had a wee nap then have been trying like hell to accomplish a mountain load of work which we only got 2 days to do. At the moment im trying to upload the trailer to youtube but its taking a while. so maybe i should inquire if you would like to partake in a bit of whistle wetting while we wait? by that i mean looking at some screen shots of the film.

Just a small town girl, living in a lonely world, She took the midnight train going anywhere...

Hey everyone, sorry its been so long since the last post but we have been knee deep in it. these are the very first images of the very first scene of IVAN, all cleaned and coloured. Props go to Josh Huf for backgrounds and to Journey. Also this may not be the final look as it doesn't look cinematic enough so hopefully something will fix that in Post.

Elves 2.0

So I thought about redesigning the elves to fit in with the whole astronaut thing were going with in regards to Santa's sleigh etc. But now finding out how much M. loved my originals I'm a little uncertain. I do like the numbers though, makes sense if they all look the same.
- PG
PS. This month has been the shittest ever, could be tiredness, could be stress, but since last night I've felt better, so looking into working on weekends and probably try to not go to uni as much. Bad of me I know, but what must be done must be done.

"Charred Actors" or "Characters"

Because he's a fire breathing Dragon, you see. Therein lies the humour. Comedy 101. Anyway...

Some conceptualizations of incidental characters based on Peter Gawrych's sketches, accompanied by my musings.

Elves: I loved Peter's drawing. There's basically nothing I'd change about it - this is just my take on it. I also like the idea of having only one elf model - it really sells the idea of slave labour sweat shops. Plus it makes our job easier in having to design fewer characters.
Cupid: I drew some inspiration from Baby Herman. Cupid is one of those perpetually youthful characters, but he's been around for a while so has built up a lot of life experience. He's seen his share of the world and developed a bitter cynasism as a result, as anyone would who spent a lot of time around happy couples. So the idea was an older man trapped in a baby's body. I tried allow the years to show on him.
Easter Bunny: I thought of him as a vacant junkie. Josh Huf's background of his home with the garage attached made me think he could possibly have set up a speed lab in there. And what better way to smuggle and distribute drugs than inside easter eggs - I mean, who would suspect? I tried to make him a spaced out, burnt out rabbit. Pfft, silly rabbit - tricks are for kids!
Tooth Fairy: Peter's drawing was great. I loved her attitude. But in the words of Eugene Struthers, I wanted to take it to a, "WHOLE... NUVA... LEVEL!" And who has more 'tude than Queen Latifah. So I based her face on a combination of QL, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston and Ella Fitzgerald. Get the diva status really up there.
Wang (tee hee): Was perfect. Didn't need or want to change a thing. Tweaked with the eyes a little to make them expressive. Happy with the simplicity of him.

So hopefully knock over some model sheets tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. Geddit? Because it's a blog, you see. Anyway...

SEACREST OUT!

Three Billy Goats G...

...rough sketches of Ivan's healthy physique. Will be refined by the weekend to produce finished model sheets. Not too much substance to this entry; just keeping the ball rolling. Some assorted character sketches of Cupid, Santa and the Tooth Fairy thrown in also as my gift to you.

Backgrounds 1

Some backgrounds for your viewing pleasure. Easter bunnys house, with and without a layer of noise.

And a rough of the winter wonderland, getting a feel for some designs, colour, light, etc.
